5/5/2014 - St. Louis Metro ARES Simplex Exercise

St. Louis Metro ARES conducted a successful simplex exercise for Zone 3 (south of I44) on Sunday, May 4, 2014.

The Zone 2 portion will be Thursday May 8, 2014 at 7:30pm. Frequency for the net is 147.435 (HVTAC12).

The Zone 1 portion will be Sunday May 11, 2014 at 3:30pm. Frequency for the net is 146.415 (HVTAC11).

Please note: ARES policy is to transmit a 100 hz CTCSS tone but not (normally) require one for receive. In the case of interference, the receive tone would be available as a filter. Since no tone is required for receive, if you're not preprogrammed and or not comfortable putting the PL Tone in your radio for the exercise, you should be o.k. but we encourage everyone to visit the District C Emergency Operations Plan at: http://ares-mo.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Missouri-District-C-ARES-EOP-Revised-2013-05-01a.pdf and preprogram your radio(s) in accordance with pages 10 and 11.

11/30/2009: This year's Skywarn Appreciation Event will take place from 6:00pm THIS Friday, 12/4/09 until 6:00pm THIS Saturday, 12/5/09. The event honors amateur radio operators for their support of Skywarn and the National Weather Service. The event is not a contest. It is simply a casual event for making contacts on a number of different modes.

The Missouri Voice over IP net will participate in the event. Plan on connecting your node into the *MISSOURI* conference server for all or part of the event to allow stations from across the region to talk with the Nation Weather Service offices around the state. We plan on starting up special Missouri Voice over IP net this Saturday morning at 9:30am. After we've taken check-ins from around the state; we're going to bridge the MISSOURI conference over to the national conference on the *WX_TALK* conference server for a national link between various weather service offices and those participating in the activity.

11/09/09: Skywarn Appreciation Day is December 5th. Cliff, KC0SDV, invites amateurs to visit the NWS office in Weldon Springs, MO. Also, in conjuction with this event, we will have a special session of the MO VoIP net on that morning. Please stay tuned for further details.

Winterfest hamfest in Collinsville, IL on January 30th, 2010. Very good hamfest and is indoors.

10/12/2009: The Missouri VoIP team is looking for qualified individuals with a desire to join our Net Control team. If you are interested in this, or know someone who is, use the contact form on this site to let us know.

Also, don't forget about the Halloween Hamfest. This is a great gathering of hams and vendors alike in Kirkwood, MO (suburb of St. Louis). This year, the hamfest is on Saturday, October 31. Click here to be taken to their site for more information.

The MO VoIP net would like to thank and welcome Henry, KB0ROX, as our Net Manager. Henry is a great asset to have on our team and we appreciate his willingness to jump in and help!

As always, if anyone has any suggestions for the net, please let us know. We're looking for ideas regarding activation procedures, features you'd like to see on the net, etc.

10/05/2009: The Missouri VoIP team is looking for qualified individuals with a desire to join our Net Control team. If you are interested in this, or know someone who is, use the contact form on this site to let us know.

9/22/09: For those repeater and link nodes that wish to do so, we can configure the *MISSOURI* conference server to automatically connect to your node just before the net starts each Monday evening. You will still be able to disconnect in the same manner as before...but this allows you to not have to remember to connect up to the net each Monday. Contact us if you'd like to utilize this feature.

9/21/09: KCØNRO invites all link administrators (those of you who run a node on a simplex frequency) to leave your node connected to the *MISSOURI* conference server full-time if so desired. This will facilitate wide area communications on a full time basis.

9/14/09: NØUAM invites all interested parties to join in on the VoIP Weather net. This net meets weekly at 00:00Z Sunday (which is Saturday night 7pm Central during Daylight Savings, 6pm Central Standard) on the WX-TALK conference server. For more information, please visit http://www.voipwx.net/
